ZIKOMO" means "thank you" in ,"Chichewa", the native language spoken in Malawi,Africa. Zikomo Fundraising Gala is a thank you to our donors and a call to action as we continue our mission to break the cycle of poverty through education. We invite you to join us for an elegant evening of giving. Come enjoy a 3 course African Meal, African drumming and dancing, Art, Silent Auction, Kids fashion show, Inspirational speakers and more. All proceeds benefit The Timalechi Nursery School Water Project. This project seeks to provide access to clean running water and sanitation facilities for the children and staff at Timalechi Nursery School. 75% of our students are living in homes without clean running water or electricity. Lack of access to clean running water is a proven barrier to education globally. Your attendance will be a part of history, together we can help break the cycle of poverty through education.
OUR WORK
In February 2016 we build a 7 foot brick fence around the school property to protect the students and staff. We also hired a security guard to manage the gate during school hours. This was made possible by the "Malawi Brick by Brick Fundraising Initiative".
Africa Liason for The City of Dallas, Regina Hill donated our first set of school desks to the Nursery 2 class. The pupils in this class are on their way to 1st grade (standard 1) , reading and writing lessons have been made easier with the introduction of these desks.
